Apologies if this isn't allowed here, but this is damn interesting stuff.

So apparently everything Kuroko no Basuke related is banned at Comic Market 83. I can't find an English news source yet but according to my fluent boyfriend, they received some kind of threat (key word: 脅迫 【きょうはく】 (n,vs) threat; menace; coercion; terrorism), banned it out of concern for the safety of everyone attending, and the police will be checking bags as people come in. I'm having trouble digging up what the threat actually was, and why Kuroko no Basuke exactly, but wow. I wonder if this is another first for Jump: having one of their series be the first actually banned at Comiket! (AFAIK, I'm no comiket history expert...)

Also 黒子のバスケ is trending in Japan on Twitter right now so have a look there too if you want to see some reactions. And lastly there's a chance I've gotten something wrong, so take it with a pinch of salt until an english article on this pops up.

Hey, has anyone read this article about female readership in Shonen Jump?

http://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXNASFK31007_R31C12A0000000/?dg=1

If anyone needs a brief summary, I wrote one at: http://www.mangatherapy.com/post/35650564147/shonen-jump-brings-all-the-girls-to-the-yard

I'm interested to see how Shueisha keeps going forward with titles appealing to women.

Hey, so I hesitated a while on doing the whole self-promotion shtick on here for a while, because this community tends to operate best when we just do the TOC stuff, but then I've also been around long enough to at least feel confident in doing so, so here we go:

I'm Maxy Barnard, and I've been doing a podcast for the last month about the titles, history and inner workings of Weekly Shonen Jump, created with an eye towards accessibility, but also to just voice my opinions as loudly as possible. The podcast is called Friendship! Effort! Victory! (and I'm sure all you savvy types know why), and comes out every friday/saturday (time-zone dependent), with alternating full-length episodes that touch on the background stuff, and teeny-weeny minisodes that just talk about what makes a series good, bad, ugly and so on.

It can be found over at its homepage and over at iTunes, and something tells me it might be just a bit up your alleys. Currently available episodes are about Dragon Ball, Assassination Classroom, Yu Yu Hakusho and Koisome Momiji, with Reborn! and Sand Land coming over the next fortnight, and with future series being open to suggestion.

So feel free to check it out if that sounds interesting to you at all. And if not, then just ignore this post and keep on looking at those sweet, sweet rankings.
